Aare Gorge, Meiringen
East of Meiringen the Aare leaves its valley through a crack in the limestone: the Aareschlucht, a gorge some 1.4 kilometres long and in places barely a metre wide at the water, its polished grey walls rising two hundred metres toward a blade of sky.

About this artwork
East of Meiringen the Aare leaves its valley through a crack in the limestone: the Aareschlucht, a gorge some 1.4 kilometres long and in places barely a metre wide at the water, its polished grey walls rising two hundred metres toward a blade of sky. Since 1889 a walkway has been pinned along the wall — part gallery, part boardwalk — so visitors can walk inside the slot with the milky turquoise river racing beneath their boots, loud in the stone corridor. It is the young river, straight off the Grimsel glaciers, still the colour of ground rock. Cool gorge light.
Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
